Extractions can be very scary for most people, but an experienced dentist can make the procedure as easy and pain free as possible. If the tooth is impacted, the dentist may cut away the gum and bone tissue that covers the tooth and then, using forceps, grasp the tooth and gently rock it back and forth to loosen it from the jaw bone and ligaments that hold it in place. Sometimes, a hard-to-pull tooth must be removed in pieces. Depending on each individual case, we may need to refer some complex extractions out to specialist.
